Just have to interrupt my vacation musings to bubble for a bit about how much I love fall! We left for vacation at the end of summer… had a blast at the beach, etc… and came home to autumn. I love it.
Last night, we had the first pumpkin soup of the season, with homemade biscuits and a big salad. Supper was followed by a little bonfire out back. No s’mores this time, but I love the smell of a bonfire in the fall.
This morning, I woke up under our new flannel sheets and shivered as I got dressed. And now, the sun is shining brightly and it is a lovely day outside. Sweaters and sweatshirts – woot!
Mmmmm….pumpkin soup 🙂
Autumn is my absolute favorite season of the year! In fact, some of the residents’ wives have told me that they noticed I have been looking a lot happier and healthier, and I can’t help but wonder how much of it has to do with this time. I am looking forward to decorating, hay rides, and making fresh pies. In fact, there is this place that I go to on occasion for soup….(I am sooo not Martha Stewart) The manager said that he was happy to see me, as he noticed I have not been in for some time. We talked for a little bit, then I asked if he had in one of my favorites….squash and apple soup. He didnt at that time, but made sure it was there for me the next time I went there. 🙂
Oh, I should send you my pumpkin soup recipe, Gwen! It’s super easy. Ready in about 30 minutes, and oh so yummy.
Squash and apple soup… can you describe it to me, purdy please?
OOh….please send it!
The squash soup is acorn squash with very tiny apple slices in it. It is a little on the thick side, almost like a pea soup…and has I believe coriander, and some of the more “autumy” spices in it…if you know what I mean 🙂
